Lifestlye Weddings - We Miss The Point

Recently I heard that a work colleague of a friend was getting married and they could only get one week off work so they chose to have the week off before the wedding rather than honeymoon the week after. This was for a week of indulgence and pampering before the wedding. The reason for this choice was that this couple had been living together for years and so after the wedding, it was just back to the same old, same old.

What a shame when the wedding day and the wedding service is just a day for people to be the "princess" and "prince" and the purpose is lost in the pampering and limelight of the event.

God created marriages as an opportunity to commit to another person for life, a man and a woman given to each other. There is nothing more important and significant than this choice. When this is overshadowed by a wedding extravaganza, the deeper significance is lost. The commitment made is actually what matters, not the packaging of the event.
