Lifestlye Forsake The Vanity Of The Crowd

These days most people are on digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube trying to build the number of their followers. Gaining and maintaining your social media crowd often depends on feeding your followers what they want to hear.

At its worst, this is just vanity and ego. Most people believe that these failures are a very modern problem. You may be surprised to know that vanity is an age-old problem.

Early church leader Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, who lived in around 100AD wrote these words

"Let us, therefore, forsake the vanity of the crowd and their false teachings, and turn back to the word delivered to us from the beginning."

Polycarp wanted the followers of Jesus to focus on Gods word rather than the allure of the crowd – a message that is as relevant today as it was when it was written!
