Lifestlye Controlling The Tongue

If there is one place where many of us fail most often - it’s in controlling what we say.

We are all guilty of unkind words, thoughtless responses, gossip and criticism. We can all think back and remember the hurtful comments which left a lasting scar on our hearts and minds.

Words are powerful. They have built nations and mobilised people at pivotal times in our history. They have helped mould the thinking and development of generations. It is the words of encouragement into our lives that have given us the ability to step out and take risks because others have believed in us and told us so.

But why do we fail so often in this area? Why is the tongue so hard to control? Jesus once said, “From the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Our words are a window to our hearts. If our heart is filled with anger, resentment and bitterness, then eventually those attitudes will be found on our lips.

What do your words reveal about your heart?
