Lifestlye Buried In Team Colours

A company approached the Australian Football League to acquire the rights to make coffins in the colours of Aussie Rules teams. Sydney-based company Life Art applied to the AFL for licensing rights to paint club colours on the coffins of fans. Life Art's managing director Natalie Verdon said she believed the market in Victoria for coffins decorated in AFL club colours could be huge.

The AFL, perhaps wisely, refused the offer from Life Art believing that this was not something they should get involved in.

Imagine being so committed to your AFL team that you would want the last impression of your life to be the colours and logo of your team?

Perhaps this is a reminder that sport can go way beyond recreation and can become an obsession, even a religion. Surely something that takes so much of your focus that you want to get buried in the team colours has become a religious activity.

It may not be your sporting team, but it is a reminder that we can worship and give our lives to things other than God - the definition of idolatry!
